What it is about
The Threshold explores transformation through uncertainty. The narrator cannot decide whether what is happening is danger, revelation or some mixture of both. The central image is a door that is already open — the difficult part is deciding whether to step through it.
The story behind it
The song moves towards a confrontation between two versions of the self: the part that wants to hide and the part that has become unwilling to remain hidden. The threshold is therefore both a place and a decision.
